Head of Sales
The Head of Sales is responsible for overseeing all sales activities of the company and managing the sales teams. The role is a results driven one that requires good commercial awareness and a deep understanding of the construction industry and recruitment, along with the ability to analyse the sales department performance. The Head of Sales role is an integral part of the business in that involves the working alongside numerous internal departments as well as our growing client and candidate database.
We currently have 4 regional managers who would report directly to the successful candidate. Most of your time would be split between Head Office and our London office, with a monthly trip to the Blackpool office. Being based in either London or near Head Office (Bicester) is preferable and candidates must be willing to travel.
Objectives and Responsibilities of the Head of Sales
The Head of Sales is also tasked with managing key relationships on behalf of the business. The Head of Sales builds strong relationships with clients and operatives and regularly interacts with them by attending site and head office meetings as well as being available on the phone at all times.
Knowledge / Experience
You must have had at least 10 years of working experience in a sales position within a fast-paced and dynamic business environment, preferably working in the position of a Senior Sales Manager. The candidate must also have a proven and successful ability to lead a group of sales personnel to bring further revenue generation, while displaying exceptional leadership skills and confidence. Previous experience either within or alongside the construction industry is a must.
Leadership / Supervisory
The Head of Sales is in charge of developing weekly / monthly / annual and sales targets for the various departments, finding growth opportunities, enabling sales improvements and taking responsibility for the company’s performance against targets. They also plays a mentorship role within the sales department, assisting and honing the team’s professional skills.
The Head of Sales plays a major strategic role in the sales department. They will be tasked with implementing sales strategies that drive enhanced revenue generation for the business, along with the senior sales management, creating and implementing sales action plans that incorporate key actions that work to set KPI’s for the business.
The Head of Sales undertakes detailed analyses of sales performance for the purpose of reporting sales strategy successes, weaknesses, and opportunities identifying areas of improvement with a view of establishing actionable insights for the improving of sales and business profits.
The position of Head of Sales is also highly collaborative and, as such, the Head of Sales teams up with other senior management ensuring that these are aligned to support and drive Workstream forward.
The Head of Sales must possess exceptional communication skills. These are especially important in enabling effective communication with clients, candidates and colleagues alike. The performance of the sales teams will also be highly dependent on the clarity of communication and instructions from the Head of Sales, making these skills a must have for the position. These skills must be excellent in both written and verbal form.
Experience in using CRM & Microsoft Office, and an interest to use technology where appropriate.
Leadership / People Skills
A candidate for this position needs to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, with an ability to inspire a large group in a single direction and vision. Being a representative of the business, the candidate must also be a likable and approachable individual, who is able to form strong and long-lasting relationships both internally and externally on behalf of the business.
